Why I worked for one small company for more than two decades
It has long felt as though I am an anomaly: who remains with one employer for more than two years, never mind more than two decades? But beginning my publishing career 23 years ago as an editorial assistant with a small niche publisher in rural Vermont proved to open many doors to personal growth and productivity. As a motivated individual with both interest and work ethic, I was provided endless opportunity to add value to the company and aid in its growth with my creativity and sweat equity. Our high standards of quality and established mission to publish “for the good of the horse” ensured I could take immense pride in what I was helping put out into the world. And that, to me, was worth more than a step up the ladder.
When Trafalgar Square Books was sold in January of 2025, I knew it was the right time for me to start building something new. And so Dirt Roads LLC, a publishing services company for independent authors, was born.
